Operations Assistant

Reports to Director of Operations

This is a full time non-exempt position. Works Tuesdays - Saturdays 6:45am - 2:45pm. May require some nights and weekend work.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plants, waters and maintains Up With Trees’ trees by pruning, mowing, weed-eating and spraying
  • Interacts with volunteers and sponsors
  • Participate in community events on behalf of Up With Trees
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations or the Executive Director

Minimum Requirements

  • Prefer at least one year experience in the field of tree care and maintenance.
  • ISA Certified Arborist Certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to professionally interact with a diverse group of people with varying backgrounds, interests, and opinions to build an effective team.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.  Position also requires a high level of energy, motivation, creativity, persistence, and a positive attitude.
  • Clean driving record.  
  • Familiarity with operating the following:
  • Stump grinder
  • Skid Steer
  • Chipper
  • Trucks with standard transmission
  • Chainsaw
  • Commercial mowers and weed-eaters

Nonprofit Administration Intern

Reports to Development Director

Non-paid internship, can be considered for course credit. We require at least a 10 week internship commitment. Hours are flexible.

Primary Responsibilities

The purpose of this job is to provide support for the administrative office of Up With Trees – a Tulsa nonprofit dedicated to planting trees and promoting urban forestry education.

This position is designed to show interns the ins and outs of running a nonprofit organization with a realistic, hands-on perspective of the fundraising, event planning, and data management role in a nonprofit organization. In the process, interns gain valuable resume-building skills and experiences.

Responsibilities will include working with Development Director to plan and implement fundraising events, updating database and data “cleaning”, researching, assisting with mailings and other administrative tasks as needed.  

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or candidate for a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Competent in Microsoft Office applications, highly organized, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in Salesforce is a plus, but not required. Attention to detail is a must.

Photography/Marketing Intern

Reports to Marketing & Communications Director

Non-paid internship, can be considered for course credit with school approval. We require at least a 10-week internship commitment, and 10-15 hours per week. Hours and start/end dates are flexible.

Primary Responsibilities

We are looking for an enthusiastic photography/marketing intern to join our marketing efforts and provide creative ideas to help achieve our goals. You will have administrative duties in developing and implementing marketing strategies.

As a photography/marketing intern, you will collaborate with our marketing team in different stages of marketing campaigns. Your insightful contribution will help develop, expand and maintain our marketing channels.

This internship will help you acquire marketing skills and provide you with knowledge of various marketing strategies. Ultimately, you will gain first-hand experience in visual storytelling, marketing, and photography and should prepare you to enter any fast-paced work environment.


  • Photography and video for projects and events
  • Support the marketing efforts in daily administrative tasks
  • Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail and web)
  • Help distribute marketing materials
  • Help organize marketing events

Minimum Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a related BS or Masters degree
  • Experience in photojournalism, with examples of work
  • Must own a laptop with Photoshop installed
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for the photography industry and its best practices
  • Must have a reliable mode of transportation and comfortable taking photos along highways and streets
  • Video/video editing, social media campaigns or graphic design experience are a plus
