Resources: Why Wooden Signs?

  • Share/Bookmark

One question we are asked regularly is, if Up With Trees is pro-trees, why are our signs made out of wood? Great news, we have your answer!  Click here to read a Tulsa World article about this frequently asked question.

There are many reasons we use wood for our signage, the first being that much of it is donated. The production of wood also happens to be one of Oklahoma’s largest industries.  We use wood commercially for home construction and the crafting of furniture.  Most importantly from an environmental standpoint, unlike metal or plastic, wood is a renewable resource and is biodegradable.  The natural beauty of wood is most appropriate for our park-like tree sites.  They are easier and less expensive to replace and can do less damage to stray vehicles leaving the road.
