Programs: Trees for Senior Citizens & Persons with Disabilities

Up With Trees is partnering with Home Depot to continue a new program for 2009 providing seniors and persons with disabilities the opportunity to receive FREE trees for their homes!

An applicant for this program must own the property where the tree will be planted. Volunteers from Home Depot and Up With Trees will “spot,” deliver, plant, mulch and do the initial watering of the tree.

A Home Depot volunteer prepares mulched area around the base of the newly planted tree, a key detail to insure the tree's healthy new start.

A volunteer prepares the base of a newly planted tree, an important part of the tree's healthy new start.

Recipients must agree to and be able to water and care for the tree on an ongoing basis thereafter.  Specific tree species are limited, but recipients will be able to select from three general categories of evergreens, flowering trees or shade trees.
