Programs: Commemorative Trees
Tree by tree, you can help grow our urban forest by planting a commemorative tree in one of Up With Trees’ Commemorative Arbor Gardens. Every tree planted in Tulsa not only makes our community more beautiful, it makes it more livable. Plant a tree as a gift for friends or family, to remember a loved one, to celebrate important life events — or just to leave a legacy for future generations.
Up With Trees has several Commemorative Arbor Gardens. The primary Arbor Garden is at the JD Metcalfe Recreation Area at 12th Street and Mingo Road. This 42-acre, peaceful park-like setting – created as part of the flood control work along Mingo Creek – features a scenic fishing pond, winding trails, benches, and a variety of plants and wildlife.
We also have a site at BS Roberts Park at 1000 N. Greenwood Ave., adjacent to the OSU-Tulsa campus near downtown, and commemorative trees can be planted in four City of Tulsa Parks — Hunter, 5804 E. 91st St.; Manion, 3003 E. 56th St.; Berry, 5002 N. Wheeling Ave.; and Carbondale, 2802 W. 48th St. Each commemorative tree is marked with a small plaque at the base bearing the name of the honoree and the tree species. Trees are planted along jogging/walking trails, near benches or in other easily accessible areas.

A commemorative tree is available for a donation of $300 each. Since Up With Trees is a 501(c)(3), your gift is tax-deductible. Your honoree will receive a card announcing your gift, and you will receive an acknowledgment letter for your donation. Up With Trees will be responsible for planting, watering and all maintenance for the tree and plaque. We will notify you of the planting date and you can participate if desired. Trees are guaranteed for 3 years, and are yours for their lifetime.
