Get Involved: Volunteer

We have fun volunteers who invest time and talents into making Tulsa and more beautiful, more livable community.  We are actively recruiting individuals as well as volunteer groups!  Get together with your classmates, coworkers, civic club or youth group and get involved.  The work we do would not be possible without the generous support of volunteers like you!  There are many ways you can help.

If you are interested in volunteering individually or as a group, or would like more information, please fill out our volunteer form below. You may also contact Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator, April Hastings at 610-TREE (8733), or by email at april@upwithtrees.org.  We appreciate your interest and hope to meet you soon!

Volunteers from OU College of Pharmacy

Volunteers from OU College of Pharmacy plant trees at McLain High School.

Our largest need right now is for volunteers to donate their time planting. We are joining with the City of Tulsa to meet the “ReGreen Tulsa” goal of planting 20,000 trees by 2010. We’ve celebrated another Re-Green kick-off, planting more than 30 trees at Reed Community Action Project Center on October 10th, ’09, and will continue to plant almost every Saturday through May of 2010. Funded through private donations, we continue to work in concert with the City of Tulsa and Neighborhood Associations to plant in parks, schools, neighborhoods and public properties throughout our city.

Volunteers interested in getting involved with planting and providing tree maintenance work with our Operations Director, Steve Grantham. Plantings typically take place on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m., though we have other opportunities during the week as well. Field Volunteers meet at the site of the opportunity (listed on our online calendar) at 10 a.m. and begin each morning with light breakfast snacks, followed by a planting demonstration by one of our volunteers. We typically work until about 1 p.m. We welcome families to bring children, it’s a family affair!

Experienced woodworkers can help make the “Up With Trees” signs that mark our sites all over town. Woodworkers typically spend 2-3 hours a couple of times a month working in our shop at 11th & Boston. Other opportunities include organizing a pruning team or lending a hand in the office on occasion.
